OPM Past, Present and Future

I am relatively new to OPM.

How long has OPM been around? What is Oracle's future direction for OPM?

OPM started out as GEMMS(Global Enterprise Manufacturing Management System) from a company called DataLogix.

Oracle bought GEMMS in 1996.

Oracle renamed GEMMS as OPM (Oracle Process Manufacturing) and started integrating into Oracle EBusiness Suite. It has been a slow process.

Currently in Oracle EBusiness Suite 11.5.10 version, almost all modules except Inventory, Manufacturing and Quality has been integrated.

Integrating the Inventory Data Model with Oracle EBusiness Suite is the last milestone in this process.

Oracle is planning to converge Process and Discrete Inventory in Release 12 due next year.

Oracle will continue to maintain separate Manufacturing and Quality modules in OPM. Everything else will be integrated.
