Using trips and deliveries in Oracle Shipping Execution

Why would I want to use Trips? Does anyone use Trips?

We are using Trips to represent trucks that are picking up products and taking to the Distribution Center. THey are our trucks. So our traffic department plans the trucks based on scheduled outputs.
Then the Traffic people create a Trip in Oracle and assign the Sales Order Lines using auto create Delivery and auto create Trip.
The Trip, Delivery and contents are then sent to shipping to execute.
Of course there are breakdowns, truck is there, parts are missing etc but that we deal with as it occurs.
We able to manage our trucks and deliveries in this manner.
