Sublot in R12

Can some one explain the concept of parent/child lots in R12? I heard sublots are not available in R12

Hi

Child Lot is Equivalent of Sub Lot in OPM Inventory, which is now converged into Oracle Inventory in R12.

Child Lot can be set as Either Parent or Parent + Child.

Parent: When set to Parent, Child Lot nos are based on the same sequence as the lot no.

E.g.. If Parent Lot is L1, then the Child Lot is L2.

Parent + Child : Parent+Child:The Parent Lot no acts as Prefix and the next available lot no is added to form the Child Lot.

E.g. If the Parent Lot is L1 then the Child Lot would be L1-1

That is

Lot--> Sublot(now Child Lot)--> 1. Parent or 2. Parent + Child

This Feature can be used in Food & Bevarages industries.

In R12 OPM,Can anyone help me in setting the Lot merge and Lot split? I have enabled the ( check box) for an item in the Master Item but how does the Lot merge and split functionality work? Any ideas and suggestion please..

If u go thru the metalink in which RCD (Release Content Doucment) has explained beautifully regarding LOT attribs like split/merge...etc.

I had gone thro' the RCD but couldnt get sufficient info.Where should we done the Lot merge/split i mean in which form can you pls send me more details regarding the navigation or setups for the same?
